Mauritius - Review: Beachcomber Paradis Hotel & Golf Club

We spent our Honeymoon at Beachcomber Paradis. The hotel is located on the Southwest coast of the island right next to the Le Morne Brabant. So the setting is just stunning! Although we went in March which falls into the rainy season we experienced zero rain or clouds. It was raining on other parts of the island but this part is usually dryer during that time of the year.

All in all we had a great week in Mauritius and the Beachcomber Paradis. If you want to know more about the hotel keep reading :)

Reservation

I directly booked through the hotel website since they had better offers. We also booked the honeymoon package . I'd definitely recommend booking directly with the hotel since most of the time they reward you with a room upgrade or other ways of saying thank you. Check in

The check in process is the first impression you get of a property so it can make all the impact for the rest of your stay. At Beachcomber we were greeted with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, so far so good! The lady at the front desk explained every detail regarding the hotel and was very friendly and welcoming. We were also upgraded to the Full Board meal plan :) Afterwards we were escorted to our room. After a 10 hour journey arriving to all this was exactly what we needed.

Rooms

All rooms are very spacious and well decorated. The smallest room starts from 50m2. We stayed at the Tropical Beach Front room with a huge balcony overlooking palm trees and the ocean. We loved everything about the room but the huge terrace was definitly the highlight. The beach was pretty close. Since the property is very big you there was a regular shuttle service between the rooms and the main area.

The Property

The property itself is really huge. It has a long sandy private beach which although the hotel was almost fully booked, never felt crowded. The pool area is also very spacious and looked great but I am not a pool person so we didn't spent much time around there. The hotel also has it's own water sports center with paid and free activities to chose from. We tried the catamaran, canoeing, sea bike, snorkeling and glass-bottom boat tour which where all included in the room rate. So there are plenty of opportunities to get some some entertainment during the day. If you are into golf or just want to try it just for fun, the hotel has a huge golf course. They also offer free beginner courses. Another great thing was the sister hotel Beachcomber Dinarobin which is located next to the hotel. There is a regular shuttle between the two hotels and you could use all facilities at the sister hotel. So if you are up for some change this came in very handy. I'm usually someone who gets bored easily and want to go out and explore the island but this time I barely left the hotel during our week long stay. It was very relaxing but yet fun.

Dining

So here's my favourite part. You have the options to book Breakfast only, Half or Full Board. Drinks are extra. Since we were upgraded to Full Board we had three meals yeay! There are four restaurants at the hotel. Le Brabant is the main restaurant and serves buffet style Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. For Diner there is always a different buffet team. We mostly had our Breakfast here.

Le Brabant manzara

The other restaurants are 'A la Carte' and need to be reserved in advanced since they only have a small number of tables. There are daily menus which are included in the Half/Full Board package and other items on the menu that cost extra. It's best to book a day in advance. Although only certain dishes are included in the price I'd definitely recommend booking at the 'A La Carte' restaurants for Lunch/Dinner since the atmosphere and experience is really great. You can also book the restaurants at the sister hotel Beachcomber Le Dinarobin which gives you a great choice of restaurants to choose from. So here are some of the restaurants we actually could get a table.

This is an Italian restaurant directly located at the beach. It's open for Lunch and Dinner. For Lunch they serve Pizza, Pasta and Sandwiches. I'd definitely recommend to have Dinner here since the atmosphere is really romantic.

La Palma dessert

This was my absolute favourite restaurant and we ended up having Lunch here almost every day. They are also open for Breakfast and Dinner. For Breakfast the choices are the same like at the main restaurant but if you manage to get a table right at the beach you should go for it. During Lunch and Dinner they mainly serve fish and seafood but have also choices of sandwiches and great salads.

Ceasar Salad

If you want the ultimate fine dining experience La Ravanne is your choice. The setting is very romantic and the menu consists of Mauritian dishes which is a must try.

This is the main bar of the hotel. Besides Crepe Hour in the afternoon and the evening live entertainment we spent a lot of time here watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean and have an evening drink.

Check out

I think this was the sadest part of our trip. I really did not want to leave. Since our flight was in the evening we had the opportunity to enjoy the beach a little bit longer. After Check out at 11 am we were offered a day room to change and shower before leaving. The room was bgger and nicer than most of the regular hotel rooms I stayed at in Europe :) The concierge also arranged our transfer to the airport. All in all everything was really GREAT! To book click here. To have a look at other Beachcomber properties on the island click here . All opinions are my own.
