Where to stay in Cape Town? - Bliss Boutique Hotel

Updated: Nov 23, 2019

We spent our first night in Cape Town at Bliss Boutique Hotel. This place is the true definition of a boutique hotel. Once a villa in a residential area this beautiful mansion is now a intimate and comfortable boutique hotel.

The hotel is located in Sunset Beach and might seem far from the city center at first sight but let me tell you it's not. If you have rented a car, and you should when in Cape Town, it's just a 15-20 minute drive away from major places like V&A Waterfront or Table Mountain. The hotel itself is located directly next to the beach and you have the best view over Cape Towns skyline, which is in this case the Table Mountain and Lions Head. Hearing the waves from the Atlantic ocean and this view is the perfect combination for a couple of relaxing days.

After a 16 hour journey we arrived in sunny Cape Town and headed straight to the hotel to get some rest. We were welcomed by an extremely friendly staff which made us like the hotel instantly. The first impression was stylish and cool and we were curios about our room.

Our room was located on the ground floor and was facing the ocean (Number101). The minute I saw our little terrace I got excited for my morning coffee that I was going to enjoy right there the next morning. The room had everything we needed and was also decorated really stylish. Although we were kind of exhausted and the bed was calling us we decided to head up to the terrace of the hotel to soak up the views and sun.

And thank god we did! From up there you had the best view and I really could have spent the whole day there. usually when arrivng to a new place we just leave our luggage at the hotel and start exploring right away but we ended up spending the whole afternoon at Bliss. We also had lunch and were lucky enough to get the best table. We had a light lunch and ordered the calamari and prawn cakes. Both were excellent. Special thanks to our waiter that day, he was the sweetest and kindest person.

Breakfast is usually included in the room rate and is also served at the same restaurant. You have a basic buffet plus you can order any dish from their breakfast menu. We opted for the Shakshuka and the Eggs Florentine which were both very good.

The hotel also has a small pool but since I am not a pool person and the weather was also too cold we skipped that. But we did enjoy a nice walk at the beach after lunch. It is just 2 minutes by foot and I can imagine during summer months it is awesome to just chill there.

In a nutshell, I really can recommend Bliss Boutique hotel to all of you that are looking for a calm and safe area to stay and just enjoy the beach and live a couple of days like a local. By the way I already started looking at houses in this area I just loved it so much :) Rates are around 60-90 Euro during low season and 110-150 Euro during High season.
