When planning our time in Cape Town we decided to stay in different parts of the city in order to explore every part to it's fullest. After spending some time at Sunset Beach we moved to our hotel in CBD (Central Business District), the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residences. CBD is home to many offices but also to a lot of cool cafes and restaurants. So the Radisson Blu was the perfect base to explore this area. We've previously stayed at Radisson Blu in other cities and were always very satisfied with the quality of the service and the hotels itself so we thought it's a safe bet to choose Radisson Blu again. And we were right!
The hotel is located right on Long Street. Many major places to visit like Long Street, Bree Street, District 6, Greenmarket Square, Bo-Kaap are within walking distance. There is also a complimentary shuttle available to V&A Waterfront. If you have a car you can use the hotels Valet service for 95 ZAR per day.
The first 12 floors of the building are for hotel customers whereas the other floors are residences. What I especially like at this hotel is that everything was brand new and looked very modern and clean. For me it is always very important that a hotel does not feel too outdated. So is the staff, which in this case clearly was very well trained and super helpful and friendly.
Our room was on the 12th floor (Number 1011) and was one of the Business Class Rooms which are a bit bigger than the Standard rooms and also allow access to the Business Class Lounge. The best part was definitely the view. We had a panoramic view over Cape Towns downtown with the Table Mountain and lions Head in the background, just stunning. The room itself was stylish decorated and everything you would expect from a Radisson. ı think the pictures talk for themselves.
As you probably may know Cape Town is undergoing a severe water crisis so all citizens and hotels make their best efforts to save water. Whereas everywhere we went in Cape Town there where reminders I personally noticed that the Radisson Blu tried to emphasise this issue a little bit more. I especially liked the sand clock in the shower which really helped me reduce my shower time.
Breakfast was included in the room rate and I was really excited for that one because Radisson Blus super breakfast is really amazing. We had a breakfast buffet with many many choices plus you could order any egg dish like Eggs Benedict or sweets like French Toast.
Since we were staying at one of the Business Class Rooms we had complimentary access to the Business Class where you can enjoy drinks and afternoon snacks.
My personal favorite park of the hotel was the Gibli Bar located on the hotels terrace. We loved chilling in the sun and enjoying their signature Gin cocktails. This was another moment where we had to push ourselves to go out and explore instead of hanging out here the whole day :)
The hotel also had a nice gym but of course I skipped that :)
In a nutshell, Radisson Blu Hotel & Residences is probably the best choice for those of you that what to stay in the city centre. My suggestion is to choose this area during weekdays because the weekends are very empty and most of the restaurants and shops are entirely closed on Sundays.
