Radisson Blu Waterfront was or third stop in Cape Town and was definitely one of our favourites. The hotel has ocean front location which is reason enough to stay at this place. It is also in walking distance to V&A Waterfront (also having a complimentary shuttle to here) and very close to stunning beach locations like Camps Bay or Sea Point. So 10 points for location.
Radisson Blu Waterfront was also the hotel with the most impressive room I'd say. Why?
Throughout the the hotel you can see how the architecture is inspired by a cruise ship. Our room (Number 504) would be the wheel house in that case I think. The balcony of the ocean facing room was just insane. I really felt like I was on a big cruise ship crossing oceans. During the night we could hear the waves and it was a real unique experience and the best sleep of our trip. The room itself was quite big with a huge bathroom, comfy bed and a separate living room area. But as said the balcony and the view were the absolute highlights. I woke up extra early to enjoy my morning coffee here while watching the sun rise. So 10 points for the room.
Another big plus was the breakfast served at Tobago Restaurant on the Ground Floor. Radisson Blu breakfasts are always a highlight with a massive buffet and great choices. What was special at this location was the A La Carte menu from which you could choose among options like Eggs Benedict or French Toast but all with a touch of South African cuisine. My favourite where the Red Velvet Flap Jacks, yummy. We were so lucky to sit outside right by the ocean while enjoying the breakfast.
The hotel itself is not the newest and some parts of it felt a little outdated or let's say less modern which was not a big issue. I really liked the ship theme though and it was really suiting to the location and general vibe of the hotel. The hotel has a great deck and infinity pool but unfortunately where closed during our stay due to bad weather.
In a nutshell: For those of you who like to stay in a prime location with a touch of luxury Radisson Blu Waterfront should be your choice. The location, room and quality of food and service you get definitely justify the slightly higher price compared to other hotels in Cape Town.
Prices start around 170 Euro. Check rates here.
